How to replace an lcd screen on Dell Inspiron 1545 Laptop

Here are some tips to help replacing a defective/broken LCD on Dell Inspiron 1545 Laptop. May also be applied to other DELL laptops.

Remove the two lower rubber caps. These can be easily removed with a knife or even fingernails. Then carefully remove the screws using the screwdriver by putting the LCD side of the laptop on a flat surface to provide support.Place Popsicle stick or plastic spoon handle behind the plastic bezel Once the screws are removed, gently insert a plastic spoon handle or a Popsicle stick behind the plastic bezel covering your Dell Inspiron 1545 LCD Screen.

Work around the bezel to seperate from the backing plate Once inserted, work your way all around the bezel to detach the plastic clips behind it. You should never have to pry too hard to avoid damage.Seperate bezel completely Carefully separate the bezel from the Dell Inspiron 1545 LCD and the backing plate.Set aside bezel Once bezel is separated, you can set it aside out of the work area.

Flip Dell Inspiron 1545 LCD forward and away from the backing plate Now carefully pry the LCD away from the backing plate. There is nothing holding it except a small connector on the bottom. You can flip the LCD forward onto the keyboard of your laptop as if flipping a page in a book. Pay attention to the connector, it can be damaged easily if it is pried away from the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. Notice how connector can be removed Now look closely at the connector. It simply slides into the female socket.

Remove the Connector Using a small flat screwdriver it can be pried away from the connector. Only use the side tabs of the connector to pry while gently pulling out. Pay close attention to the wires, they are very delicate. Do not pull on the wires, only the connector. Also pay attention to the orientation of the connector to help in assembly.Reassembled!! Assembly is exactly opposite of disassembly. However, be sure to simply press on the bezel while supporting it from behind to click in the internal clips gently.
