How to Connect a Touchscreen Monitor

Touchscreen monitors have been a staple of science-fiction movies for decades. Now they are a reality for the average home computer user. The very idea that it is possible to simply touch, tap and slide your finger over the computer screen has made even the most stoic technophobe sit up and pay attention. The average non-geek computer user has to wonder how to install such a monitor and if they could do it without a visit from a computer pro. The answer is that almost anyone can install these monitors in a few minutes.

Make sure you have all the necessary parts. When you unpack your new monitor, make certain that all of the necessary cables were included. If not, be certain to get the cables recommended by the manufacturer of your monitor.

Connect the monitor to the computer. Turn the computer off. There are two scenarios that will be possible when you begin to connect the cables. In the first, they will be connected permanently to the monitor and you will need to plug them into the appropriate port on the computer.

The second is that they are all detached and need to be attached to both the monitor and computer. They will not only be color coded but they will also only fit in their appropriate slots. After all of the cables are attached, plug in the power supply to both the monitor and the electrical source.

Turn on the monitor and computer. After boot up, the monitor may work immediately. Install the included software anyway. It will make the screen work as it was intended. Follow the instructions and any onscreen prompts until installation is complete.
